Microsoft Edge is free web browser based on the Chromium architecture for Android devices. With Microsoft Edge, you can surf the internet from your mobile device, add and view bookmarks, keep a log of your browsing history, and much more. It is the newest mobile internet browsing installment released by Microsoft, and it replaces Internet Explorer. Microsoft Edge is one of the only web browsers that has extension support for mobile devices.

A Relatively New Browsing Experience from Microsoft

Although Microsoft Edge does not have the level of customization that was offered by Internet Explorer, it is generally snappier and faster in operation. Microsoft Edge is also more optimized to support multiple tabs being open, which is useful if you're someone who frequently swaps between multiple tabs while browsing. Microsoft Edge even supports HTML5, JavaScript, and modern website design, and it appears to handle streaming quite well.

What to Keep in Mind

Microsoft Edge is a fast, viable browser, but a lot of what keeps it from being perfect is the fact that it contains a lot of advertising. By default, new tabs always lead to MSN landing pages, and the section where you can see "Top Sites" is generally pre-populated in the second row with advertising. It's possible to at least choose which search engine to use when typing search terms into the address bar, however.

Getting Started with Microsoft Edge

You can try out Microsoft Edge for yourself by installing it to your Android device. Overall, it's a fast web browser with somewhat annoying advertising, but it's easy to look past if you don't spend too much time in the new tab interface. Simply launch Microsoft Edge, sync your data if applicable, and start browsing today.
